Texelana elbow / heel protector

In addition to protection, this item provides warmth and relief to painful joints. This protector can also help delay the onset of bedsores in people who are bedridden.

This product is manufactured in such a way that, partly due to the Velcro closure, it can be used for elbow and heel.

How are the sheepskins processed?

Texelana medicated pelts are mildly cleaned according to the strictest EU standards and are ecologically tanned. As a result, the active softening substance lanolin (wool fat) and the soft structure of the wool have been preserved. This also keeps the natural scent slightly present. No chemical dyes are used for these coats. Due to the medicated tanning, the furs are no longer susceptible to fungal growth. The coat is shornd back to about 3 cm, so that it is less likely to tangle and can be brushed out easily. Medicinal tanned coats are not dyed or bleached. The yellowish color of the coat comes from the way of tanning.

Pleasant lighting

The fur density of these coats is high, so that body heat is retained. This can help relieve muscle pain.
Medicinal tanned coats can help delay the onset of pressure sores. The soft, moisturizing and warming medicinal sheepskin is also a solution for other discomforts caused by prolonged lying or sitting.

Gently washable at 30°C hand wash with a wool detergent. We recommend using the Texelana Wool Detergent .

Washing instructions

Medicinal coats are (limited) washable, we advise to wash the coat only if strictly necessary!

The product does not need to be washed before use. In addition, wool cleans itself. Hanging out in the morning dew is a blessing for the wool. Washing the fur can remove the lanolin from the fur and cause the leather to harden.

If you still want to wash the fur, follow the following washing instructions (this offers no guarantee):
  • Wash at 30°C by hand with Texelana® wool detergent (contains lanolin);
  • After washing, rinse very well with clean water;
  • Add a good splash of natural vinegar to the last rinse water. Leave the fur in this for 10-15 minutes (this prevents the leather from hardening);
  • Let the fur dry at room temperature with the hairy side down, for example on a drying rack. Never in the dryer, and not on or near the heating or in the full sun;
  • Regularly pull the leather into shape during the drying process so that it remains supple and does not curl up;
  • After drying, comb the coat with a hard brush, so that the sheepskin lambskin remains beautiful and wonderfully soft;
  • After washing, the leather can become less supple and the hair stiffer. This is normal. Washing the fur is at your own risk.

Origin

Our sheepskins come from the Netherlands, England, Ireland, Sweden and Iceland and are tanned and processed in various tanneries in Europe, according to EU guidelines.
